Default Help Please!!!!!

Hi
I fished Pennine today and blanked. As a newcommer to flyfishing and having been a carp angler, I don't want to get overly critical about blanking, but the thing is, every other ****** was catching!! The guy next to me even had a 15ib Rainbow. I asked what they were all using, and most were on Cats Whisker, some of them were suspending lures beneath a bung thing, and most were catching. The bloke next to me was fishing a lure under a bung and pulled about 8 out - he went away for a while so I adpoted his tactics- (not really my cup of tea) and not a sniff- he came back and started catching again- what the **** am I doing wrong????

I tried Cats whisker, damsels etc nothing - I feel like selling my tackle- well gutted

Any tips hints would be greatly appreciated

Thats fishing for you, but one day you will be catching and no one else will be, and they'll be asking you what you are using. its just your luck on the day i suppose. if the water had lures being fishing in it all day try more traditional flies because the fish have seen the lures all day n aren't intrested in them, but they may be intrested in the traditionals.

sounds like you just had one of those days mate.we all get them from time to time. perseverence and a variaton of the retrieve usually works for me.although you can get desperate when people are catching and you aint, its important to keep the concentration and methodically search the water colums.
tight lines YC

Continue with the bung method, but substitute a nice fat worm for the cat's whisker.

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't have minded if no one else was catching, but as you say - thats fishing.

@savage take - I did stay in the same spot maybe that was one of the problems. I was using 4lb sub surace leader about 9ft. Most were fishing about 3ft deep under an indicator

What is the score with these bung things- I didn't know you could drift a lure - I thought they had t be stripped along?

Cheers

It might have been your leader was quite noticeable to the fish, what type of line was it. Get maxima ultra green or clear its cheap and almost everyone i know has it
