Default Are these Snap fly connectors worthwhile ?

Another newbie question here, sorry if it a stupid one!!
I saw some "snap connectors" whilst browsing on fleabay. Here's a link if you don't know what I mean.

2 x Mustad 77145 Snap Hook/Fly Hooks x25 on eBay (end time 16-Nov-09 08:59:59 GMT)

These seem a good idea, especially when the weather is cold and knots are difficult to tie with numb fingers.

Are they any good? Do people use these?
Thanks for the advice/help
Gary.

I feel they are OK if you are using lures etc, but as for anything else, such as dry fly and delicate work, I am not a fan.
They can be damned fiddly as well.

PM sent.
Seems like so far people aren't too keen, but this is what learning is all about!
Thanks again.
Gary.

I'm going to buck the trend and say that I think they are very good, esp' for droppers (no need to keep cutting back each time you change a fly). I suffer with mild arthritis in my fingers and they help a lot - I've never considered myself as less than fully able bodied (unlike some would suggest):

I have caught carp to 20lb+ whilst using them so I'd say they are strong enough.

Me too.

It is possible that, in some sizes, for some sizes of fly, they work very well - but mine went to the bottom of a disused drawer and will not be seen again this side of an estate clearance.

I'm reminded of the Colman mustard story - they said that the profit was made on the bit left on the side of the plate.
