Default Expensive Sunglasses - worth the money?

I have a fairly cheap pair of polaroids, about £30.

I'm considering spending a lot more (£100 ish) and getting a decent pair.

Are they really worth the extra?

For sure.

I've just lashed out on a pair of Optilabs prescription glasses.

The difference is quite startling..you can see every pebble on the bottom in almost any light.

Very probably true, except when in low light levels when you need a proper pair of yellow lenses.

without doubt, you will see a huge difference in the performance and the quality of the lense, plus if you get glass they will be far more durable than plastic, do it you wont regret it!

I love the prescription opti labs, brillant for buzzers.

They do different shades in low light. I forund the 'canary yellow' to suit better than the std low light. A far brighter yellow.

Ask, I found them more than helpfull.

Anyone know where I could get a good pair of yellow lens Polaroids at reasonable money. Cant seem to find to many in the tackle web sites. I like to ware glasses all the time but since we get more dull weather than bright in Ireland I really could do with yellow lens. Hard to drive around Corrib in dark glasses on a wet dull Irish day...

I've had expensive & cheap glasses over the years and think that the extra money is what you pay for the brand name.

That's more important to some that anything!! I'm using a £6 pair of airflow glasses at the moment and they are just as good as the pair of £100 Bolle that i had a while ago (they took a long bath in Draycote!! )

I think it depends on what you're using them for.
If you are loch/lake fishing , then you only need something that will keep the glare (and badly cast fly!) out of your eyes.
If you need to see into the water , such as small water stalking , chalk stream nymphing , and certainly bonefishing , then you need a really good pair of glass lenses.
You will only catch when sight fishing if you can see the fish , and good glass lenses are more valuable than your rod and reel.

That's my view anyway!
