Default Fly Fishing Store in Notts

Hi All,

I am looking for some help :-)

I have a colleage over in the UK from Norway who is a keen fly fisher. We are in the Notts area, specifically Ruddington (South Notts).

Does anybody know of a local Fly Fishing shop in the Notts/Leics area that is reachable by car within 1 hour drive time? Have looked at the obvious sources but most shops locally offer carp fishing only.

TIA

Kevin

From memory, Walkers of Trowell best bet? Saville's is based there and deals with the fly fishing stuff (see right hand side of main page):

They've certainly had a few quid off me in years gone by when I lived in Nottm!

Gerry's of Nottm in town used to do some fly gear too, not sure if they still do:

Also, Matchman Supplies in West Bridgford used to have a few bits and bobs

Default Double Whammy

Agree with above

1st Steve Parton - an experience nobody ever forgets
2nd Walkers of Trowell - Something for everything

Both are a few miles apart so the double whammy is in order

I would say the lodge at Rutland is less than an hour from where you are, devoted totally to fly fishing and tying. They are having a sale this weekend, not sure of the details yet but have heard its 20% off everything.

Default Tackle Shops Notts Area

Hi Kevin,

Another vote for Walker's of Trowell - also includes Saville's Mail order. Worth a look at their catalogue if you can get one in time.

And also for Steve Parton - as prviously described, not a shop but will sell you 'stuff'.

If you're in the mood for an expedition, Rutland Water with its tackle shop, and also Eyebrook, which is also well stocked, well priced and will let you 'try before you buy'. Very impressed with their low key 'no pressure' sales approach.

Enjoy yourselves and enjoy the surroundings if you get to Rutland/Eyebrook. Well worth the trip.

Hi Kevin.

1. Steve Parton....is a must.

2. For stillwater gear and particularly stillwater fly tying kit , Rutland is worth the journey.

3. Steve Parton....you'll find it hard not to visit him twice!
