Fishing diaries.
Several years ago I started to keep a brief diary of events from each of my fishing trips. Nothing too deep. weather conditions, fly life spotted, wildlife seen etc.
In the last couple of years or so, I have elaborated slightly on the content.
I now apart from the above, put down river height and water colour, fish caught on what fly, water temperature, wind strength, pools on the beat which have been constantly productive, company with whom I fished, etc etc, and what time I was able to fish too, before the light went.
I even make a quick note on rod and reel, line # and how it worked for me in said conditions.
I find during the winter months, it is so nice to flick through it and remind myself of each and every day spent on the river and the fun enjoyed with friends. And I can remember them well with just a quick flick through the diary.
It's also a very handy reminder of just when approx to expect certain species of fly life to be hatching during the summer months.
Anybody else do this ?
