I believe there is a little mud pool in Northampton called "Rutland", named after the depression in the ground that actually formed the 'pool'.

There's one in Barley, Lancashire called Mire Water that I've walked past on the way to Pendle Hill, looks pretty small. I've never fished it. Fritzcat told me he went there once and laughed 'coz it's a pond' and went away.

Pendle View had a "Specimen Canal", which was basically a few holding pens dug through. About the width of a canal and 70m long. It was filled with big trout and they charged a slight premium to fish it. Then it sprang a leak and they had to decant all the trout into the regular "fly lake", which is also on the small size.
