Default biggest development in fly fishing?

In carp fishing it's the hair rig, in lure fishing for pike it's got to be braided line. What's the biggest development to have improved fly fishing over the last 20 years?

Carbon Rods, advances in fly line and leader material would be my shout.

I would say...

Carbon fibre rods
Flourocarbon
CDC (dont know how new this actually is in tying but patterns like the shuttlecock are here to stay)

I also think the sheer amount of tackle and tying materials available to todays anglers allows inventive and forward thinking fly fisherman come up with new ideas.
If the great anglers of the past had these choices i wonder what they would have come up with.
