Do Farmoor ever hold any pike matches? Have any big pike come out in recent times?

Hi John,

There simply isn't the head of pike in Farmoor as there is in other reservoirs such as Chew and Grafham. Therefore a pike match would be pretty unproductive. You are more than welcome to fish for the pike if you purchase a day ticket and use flies without a treble hook though. I did put about 30 pike into F2 in 2004, some of these have grown to 30lb plus but are not caught, just seen, and we did have one of around 30lb die after being entangled in the mesh of the cages.

Well i've got my place booked. Can you tell us how it works ? ie is it pegged ? and move every hour ?

It'll be a walk-off, no having to move every hour (that's only in the team competitions we occasionally have) but you can move during the day if you want.

Yeah there's plenty of room, the more the merrier! We've currently got around 50 anglers booked in. It's a really good day, it usually fishes well and the food's not bad either!

Rumour has it that farmoors fishing very well at the moment.....

Boobies as usual on the DI-7.....and as well as the stockies pulling there's some quality fish about in the 3.5 - 5lb class..
