Default Cleaning fly lines

Hi all ,

going to give my gear a good clean ready for next season , but was wondering how you all clean your fly lines and treat them ready for the new trout season ?

I soak mine for a little while in warm soapy water then pull it through a wet cloth to remove any dirt.dry off and then use some flyline cleaner and store it in large coils till you need it again.dont wind it back onto your reel.

I fill my bath with a couple of inches of warm (not hot) soapy water, strip line into bath, swoosh it around a bit then wind it back on the reel through a warm damp cloth.

Why not wind it onto your reel?

Been putting the lines back on reels for over 25 years at the end of the season and they have been fine after a quick stretch.

I purchased a line winder from Ebay, as i usually fish once a week, any lines i use i clean ,after each trip
I wind them on the winder, no twists, on floaters i clean with Amoral dashboard wipes.
Let them dry, then wind on to the spool, easy and quick,
Sinking lines get the same treatment, but i use a baby Wipe,
i then use the wipe to clean my rods and reels,
All flies i use go into a camera spool case, and i stick them under steam from a kettle,
using forceps, don't want burnt fingers, i then dry them off, and they go back in the box,
and that's me ready for the next fishing expedition.

I think the advent of Airflo floating lines made everyone become hypersensitive to overwintering their lines,I'm with RRW.I clean them and wind them back onto my Large arbour reels. In saying that ,I fish right through the winter.

A pale of warm water, a little bit of washing up liquid. Leave for 5 mins, wind back on the reel, through a dry cloth. Works well, never had any issues..

Keep it simple
