Default Rutland without waders??

Hi Chaps

Im planning on my first ever trip to Rutland end of November, the guy at the fishing shop said over the phone that the boats might be off the water by the end of November for winter depending on the weather.

My question is: If the boats are off the water and I have to fish off the bank, is there any spots that I could fish without a pair of waders? Or are a pair of waders a definate must for Rutland?

Cheers

Waders are pretty much a necessity I'm afraid. The water level is very low at the moment, but there may well be more water by the end of November.

You can fish off the dam and the harbour frontage with no waders, and erm, well actually that might be it unless you can a cast a lot of line...Having said that, If the fish are in close after some frosts you might be okay with wellies, the Normanton bank and Stockie Bay are fishable with dry feet just about. The Peninsula could be trickier though.

I'd prefere waders as you have more options and areas to fish but

I think you'll be ok without waders if you can cast a decent line...say 25yards...

The water levels are low.....and the fish very close to the bank.

Carrot Creek
Barnhill Creek
Church Bay
Blue Pipes
Fantasy island
Sailing Club - New Zealand point

Are all fishing ok..... on Minkies,Hummungus, floating fry, crunchers or small red dries.

If you want some deeper water without the need for waders....your only options at the moment are

The Stones arms in front of the lodge...and the Blue Pipes
