Default Fish Hooks Cause Puppy's Death

What a tragedy for this family to lose their new puppy to the careless actions of some angler

and the point being to put it on a fly fishing forum ,when the x ray shows its two treble hooks ,not exactly the armoury of a fly angler on a wire trace found on the solway coast ?? but sad for the little girl i agree ...

Cairns are lovely little dogs, have a pair here,

shame really , if thats what it does to a dog imagine what other forms of wildlife have gone through, ie swans , birds of prey, otters , foxes, etc,

shame on those people

I agree that actions by careless anglers are unfortunate, Sadly though all anglers can lose hooks and terminal gear and it cant always be recovered but it can be washed up later on the waters edge.

All we can do is to minimise the amount of stuff that gets lost by the careful selection of terminal gear and everyone been diligent . However one thing does bother me :

I have grown use to many anglers whilst seemingly able to pick up after themselves when faced with discarded line that someone else has left just leave it where they find it...

Apologies for irritating you. I'm new to posting and I simply put the thread into the first general area I came to. However, I do know enough about angling to recognise a typical pike fishing wire trace when I see one. I see now that I maybe should have inserted the thread into the classifieds section under the heading "New Puppy Wanted"

not irritated at all ,and at only your second post you put something up that has a go at anglers, dont you think that it would get some negative remarks ,as for sarcasm theres no need ,and no need to put it in classifieds either as they already have a new puppy called toffee ,but still a sad thing to happen to the little girl

Lots of pike are caught from salt water , ie. Sweden . I don't know about Scotland though , doubt it somehow ...

Anyway the news report does say "near a south of scotland loch" a loch near the coast .

The freshwater fish caught from the Baltic are caught from areas of low salinity - they are in the sea, but they are not in saltwater - brackish at worst.

I think the news report mentions that they were on the shore of a loch. Lots of freshwater lochs near to the coast.
