Default Hooked: Monster Fishing: Mongolian Terror Trout

Hooked: Monster Fishing: Mongolian Terror Trout
Fish biologist and conservation expert Dr Zeb Hogan goes in search of the famous Mongolian Terror Trout, known to grow up to seven feet long.

National Geographic Channel - 9pm Monday 02/11/09

Does anyone know who it was that made the program about catching Taimen, maybe John Wilson?

I don't think it was Wilson, might it have been Accidental? I know John Bailey has gone there but maybe not on TV. Interesting to see the black marlin spearing that kid on this week's programme, he was very lucky!

Something keeps saying John Wilson to me i think it might have been a series he made fishing in other countries because i can never find the episode when he was in Canada catching the Lake Trout on the fly either. Could be from that series? They must be about the only two fishing programs that have not been repeated about 1000 times on some digital channel.

I've seen the lake trout one, I remember he was guided by a bloke with a Brummie accent. I don't remember Wilson ever being in Mongolia or taimen country.

I saw a programme with Vinnie Jones where he caught a Taimen - not a great show as you can imagine...

Joy and John Bailey used to run Mongolian expeditions. I think they still do as do other outfitters.

The taimen grow large although 7' would be an exageration. Lenok a primitive form of trout are plentiful as are grayling.

If you're interested - there's the Trout Bum Diaries - 'River Wolf' - DVD.

The Angling Exploration Group - the guys who've done Patagonia and New Zealand.

Royvs is a big fan!

I saw that one, it's called "Vinnie Jones excellent adventure".
In the end he got one on spinning gear.
