Ok, a provocative message header, but deliberately so....
The recent massive fish kill on the Trent near Stoke has rightly prompted outcry in the coarse fishing world, full blown investigations and an on-line petition aimed at applying pressure to increase fines for such things (which are little more than an occupational hazard to polluters as things stand). As far as I can tell, the response on this forum has been muted to say the least (apologies if I have missed some stuff). After reading more in last week's Angling Times, and on one of my club websites near the affected areas, I posted a link on here to a petition which is running. Result so far? 193 views and responses from 4 people. Ironically, thats the same number of fish which they found alive in Scotch Brook (a Trent tributory near Stone) one of which, even more ironically, was a brown trout. In the main river, all fish were killed, with the exception of 2 brook lampreys. Latest EA update is here:

So this stunning lack of interest is down to what? the fact that its not a game fishing river perhaps? (or not that bit of it anyway, despite a few hardy brownies)
I really do hope I have got this all wrong and will be shot down in flames with a flood of replies to this thread saying how we must and are sticking together as anglers/conservationists etc.....
