I went 2 years ago. It was very nice and there are a few decent fish there. the only problem was that i payed for my 2 fish ticket and caught it in 3 casts so had to buy another ticket.

Verdict I have heard from other local Southern softie anglers is "...not bad, but you can do better in the area..."

Fished it many times and had good and some not so good days when nothing seemed to work.
The top lakes, called Simms, is gin clear and it's easy to spot fish and there are good fish there.
The bottom lake which is fed from Simms is often murky as it holds a large head of coarse fish including some big pike and loads of tiny bait fish that can make dry flies a real problem, but that never effects the fishing and I've had fish to 7lb on the right bank looking from the hut.
Dont think there are any big fish in there now although there is still the rumour of a large brownie at the top end of the large lake.
Stocking is regular and mostly about the 2lb to 3lb size.
Great people who run the lakes and very friendly.
Not the easiest place to find and not much in the way of amenities but still a great place to fish in my opinion.
Try something green and sparkly or buzzers fish very slowly.

John 'o' Gaunts
Probably the worst venue I have ever visited, and definatley the worst guy running it that I have ever met, right ignorant merchant, this was about 7 or 8 years ago, maybe by now, with a bit of luck, he's falling in the drink and drowned............

Same problem at Holbury Lakes up the Road @ Lockerly.
Woodington has it's detractors, but I had a nice day there last yr and no probs with the fish limit thing.
Some places in the south do a fish credit system, so if you don't bag up you can carry your limit to another day. - Enlightened

How many times have I been to stocks on 5 fish ticket and blanked

It'll be interesting to see how Supersonic got on today following Grayling's reply.
Hopefully the guy he remembers has long gone as I have had no such problems in the past 2 years I've been fishing there.

Interesting comments?!?!

I had a lovely afternoon, the chap that was running it (Ken) was really helpful and friendly. The only downside was the long track from the main road, regular visits would really knacker your car, fine for 4x4 but not for your average Merc.

Caught 2 beauties which I gave to the Landlord of my local in return for dinner and a couple of pints.

£21 for a 2 fish ticket.

Going down to Winchester this afternoon for a mooch along the Itchen.

I'm lucky living in Overton, there are about 10+ fisheries within a 20 mile radius.

Well I never! I live just up from the Greyhound, if you fancy meeting up give us a shout.

I'm making the most of a rare week off at the mo, I work in the smoke.
