This is what I would take anywhere for ‘bows and be confident of catching. In no particular order;

Diawl Bach’s (red holo as favourite)
Crunchers (I would drop pheasant tail nymphs for these)
Buzzers
Snatchers
Cormorants (red holo again)
Cats Whisker
Sparklers (for fry feeders)
Hoppers
Boobies (for washing line)
GRHE with and without a bead head in natural and olive
Emergers (I prefer foam, as it’s more durable than the natural alternatives).
Dry Sedge – either deer hair like a Sedgehog / G&H Sedge or a foam one.

In saying that I’m having a change of tack this winter and am tying up more traditional type patterns for next season. Dabblers, Palmered wets, Winged wets. I might not catch as many fish, but they are much more satisfying to tie than wrapping fritz around a hook.

Cheers - Steve

Del, I used Squirrel tail as dubbing instead of Hare`s ear and the effect was devastating. Some real savage takes and when hackled, gink the top of hackle, it`s great as a dry too. Sizes #14 & #16 did best. Oh and a copper rib instead of gold.

My mate and I are going to be fishing 3 rivers next season, all going well. Having the last cast on Friday (after 4pm) probably the Golf course to Vet`s. If you`re about, I`ll let you have 1/2 doz or so of the squirrels. If you pm me I`ll give mob No.

Speak to a man called James Litster, a scottish international and an all round decent guy. I believe he fishes harelaw quite a lot and rates the place highly. I've fished it once...My water is Harlaw (lose the E). If anybody can point you in the right direction he's your man! Ask at the fishery for him. Its been yrs since I spoke to him, trust me though, he is one step ahead the game.
