Only river (small one) i have fished near campbelltown is the carradale water
is about 1 mile north of saddell,on the b842 road just after torrisdale castle, sea trout, and salmon water, with browns, is not just spate water though, has about 3/4 a mile or so of tidal stretch which is definetly worth a look. Caught a couple of decent sea trout in this section when i was there last.(about 10 years ago). Pemits were sold by one of the club members in the village.
regards
bert.

Default Saddell

Hi Eddie, I visit Carradale (about 5 miles from Saddell) every August. I`ve seen plenty sea trout jumping around the mouth of the Saddell Burn i`m sure you would get a fish salt water fly fishing, not sure if you can fish the burn or not but sea trout do run it if you get some water.

Carradale has the river Carra permits available from the caravan site £15 per day fly only and total catch and release at the moment due to low fish stocks.

plenty good rocky shorelines where you can spin, flyfish for pollock/ mackeral
its a lovely part of scotland hope you enjoy it.

sunburst is right, carradale is about 5 miles north! strange how memory fades distances! at time i was there, could fish bait below carradale bridge to estuary, fly only upstream of bridge, however section from last bend above weir(limit of tides) at caravan site was superb fly water on outgoing tides.

If you have time try to fish Tangy Loch on the west coast of Kintyre near glenbarr & Loch Auchalochy above Campbeltown. I stayed in campbeltown for 4 years 20 years ago & both these were great lochs, Tangy had a great head of wild browns and Auchalochy gave me my biggest wild brownie at that time (3lb 14oz). Theres also the Barr on the west side but I'm not sure if thats open for visitors, it used to be a syndicate. All the rivers depend on water though.
