Default curly line ??

have just found an old fly reel with a decent floating line on.
the problem is the kinks as such in it,if i were to stretch this line out under tension would that do the job or should i just bin it.

I'd give it a strech, just don't do it on the bank while you're fishing like I did. Was in the process of stretching one of my old lines to get rid of the curls, for it to snap in my hands! At least I knew for certain the condition of it though..

before you stretch it ,fasten a large swivel or something similar to unravell twist in the line to a gatepost or something ,then stretch it ,if not the line will stay with the twists in it .....

Kev, give it a good soak in warm soapy water for 30 mins, then dry it off, and spool it round an old bicycle wheel or something similar and leave it for a day or two. Then give it a stretch, fastening it to a fencepost with a swivel.
Should help. Failing that, tow next doors car with it.
How do you know it is a decent line. ?

I'll 2nd that, any twist and kinks need to be able to "escape" from the line.

Not tried this way before but I will certainly give it a try when needed. I suppose this would help bring an overwintered or a long time unused line back to life.

Like that Kev, very good.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, because I am a pedantic old devil, DON'T leave your lines on a reel overwinter, even large arbor ones, they will attract memory, and I don't care what make they are.
Simple and cheap, get some plastic drain pipe the large diameter stuff, and cut rings off it and wrap them round it, and store them.
I do it every time I return from fishing, as I don't know which reel I will be taking next time.
Takes all of one minute, and leaves your lines perfectly stored.
I run each line through a damp cloth as I take them off, to clean them, and when I wind them back on, I occasionally run them through a line slick pad, such as Cortland supply.

Are you one of those that HAS to pick up any tiny little bit of fluff off the carpet as you walk through a room ??, do all the spines line up flush on all your books ???
Does sound like a good idea but I am sad to say I am just way to lazy for all of that
