Default Pictures from recent Thailand fishing trip

Get a decent truck

Find a lake with some big fish in it...

Catch one of the big fish (Alligator Gar)......

Release the fish safely and try and catch something else.....

Catch a fish that is hard to catch on a fly (Arapaima)....

Catch your breath, count to five and see what else you can catch. Hook in to another fish only to realise it's anothe Arapaima (cue shock from guide and lake owner!)......

Decide a day off is needed and do some of the touristy things. Like riding an elephant....

Go to the Bridge over the River Kwai...

Feel refreshed after a day off and drive deep in to the Thai jungle to a 30 mile long reservoir....

Blank in the jungle (despite lots of attacks on the fly!)


Decide to go chasing large Mekong Catfish. And catch lots - 30 in 12 hours day totalling 800lbs!...

Chris, let me guess, IT Monsters for the arapaima and Bungsamrun for the Mekong Giants? I have fond memories of these lakes...did you do Boon Ma for the barramundi? I'll just add that fish porn like this is very bad for morale .

Spot on Kenneth regarding the waters. I'm waiting for the Barramundi pictures to find their way to me still!

great report and pics ,which do you think fought the hardest ,the arapaima or the mekong ,my money would be on the arapaima of equal weights.....,they are a gorgeous fish them arapaima's...........

Well, the Arapaima was on a 9# fly rod and the Mekong was on 50lb boat tackle. Both put up superb scraps but any fish that can hoop over 50lb boat gear deserves special mention!
