Default Boat No 53 on Rutland today and the rest...

Would just like to leave a little message for whoever was fishing from boat no 53 on Rutland today................I'm not a shocking four letter word (begining with c) that you called me and would like to point out that i shook my head at you because i was annoyed that i couldn't cast, from the bank, because you were motoring, at full speed, so close to me that my flys would have ended up in your prop. From your accent i ascertained that you were a Scot and from watching you fish, i also noticed that you aint very good and was clearly annoyed that us bank anglers were catching fish that you don't seem to have the ability to outwit.

The boat anglers around the lodge area today were really quite shocking. I have noticed this getting worse over the last couple of years and i believe it is because the fisherys let them get away with it. I didn't report it today because i was only fishing for 2 hours and when i had done in the past, nothing happens.

I fish from boats quite a lot and always respect the bank anglers. I wish a few others would take a look at themselves and do the same.

I agree wholeheartedly with these comments. I always do my reservoir fishing from a boat, and always respect my fellow anglers by not encroaching on bank anglers, crossing drifting boats etc. I too have seen some shocking etiquette this season and any who feel they may be guilty of such actions need to take a long hard look at themselves and remember being a gentleman is far more important than 'bagging up'.

Manners don't cost anything, totally agree you, shame some people show no respect for the space of other anglers especially when they see a few fish coming out, even when your on the water you can soon have an exodus of boats surrounding you like seagulls round a trawler when they see you putting a bend in the rod, this is why i like to fish in the week if possible when its not as crowded.

I wonder if that was my team mate Iain Robertson during the Fry Bash match today

I agree, some boats do get too close and it isn't fair, although some bank anglers take the p!ss as well, wading out so far up to their chests they might as well be in a boat!

Oh were they Scots too? Post could have gone along nicely without the country reference. Did not see the need for that.
As to poor etiquette, all too common all sides of the border. Scots, English Welsh or Irish makes no difference One reason I do not fish & frequent such places now a days. Similar thing happened to me many years ago on North Third, I reported it to the management but they did not appear to treat it seriously indeed the opposite. The lodge would have known who was in the boat & from that you could have found out if it was a club booking so maybe a strongly worded letter to the secretary might have done some good. Do not think the rock throwing scenario is a good idea.

I've seen this rule quoted a few places that you should be 50 yards from a bank angler and if your not sure err on the side of caution.

Was there a comp on there today Phil .

Sad to here this mate. Driving thru your swim, if you could have cast to their prop. Were the other bank anglers not up in arms as well??

Sounds like someone desperate to catch fish or get a name for themselves regardless of the consequences. Ironically they will probably get a name for themselves and the reputation that comes along with it. Not a great example for any young members of the sport.

Seems to be more and more desperados about this weather on the comp circuit. Like the one that was mentioned in an earlier thread apparantley fishing inside the markers at the Lexus. Also heard of another supposedly fishing inside the markers at the AW Final. Put that together with what happened at Grafham this year with the cheats and there are definately some people out there who are giving our sport a bad name.Whats more they dont seem to care about it. Was this guy pleasure fishing or comp fishing?????

I think id rather blank everytime, than be thought of as a desperado once.

OO
