Default hoop or tie

Just wondering how the more experienced anglers attach their fly, currently i tie mine but have seen some hoops that you tie to your leader and then just attach the fly hook eye.

I should imagine the hoop is quicker for fly changing, but what about presentation?

I think they are great for not chopping down your tippet with multiple changes, but having tried them I found it far from quick to change flies, its quite fiddly with smaller glies and connectors to unsnap the fly, particularly on a cold or rainy day. It ended up actually being quicker to tie a new one on.
