Hi all, minor rant alert.

Why do internet based tackle companies continuosly lie about their stock! Over the last few days I've ordered a few items from various places such as Angling Direct etc. I've even paid for next day delivery! A few days pass so I fire an email off asking where the hell my items are, only to be told "erm awfully sorry but we were out of stock and are awaiting new stock in 10 to 20 days".

WHO THE HELL ARE THEY TRYING TO KID! They never had the bloody stock in the first place but merely order in on demand! Unless the site is affiliated to an actual retail outlet it seems no matter which company I try I get the same results.

Any web based retailers take note..... GET YOUR BLOODY ACT TOGETHER.

Sit down and have a nice cup of tea, and relax.
Your right though, it's a disgrace taking your money then finding out you can't have them.
I have become very wary of a lot of these companies now, and usually email them or phone to make sure they do have stock, because I HATE waiting.
Grommit is one of the best for deliveries I know, and if they are out, they will ring you direct and offer you a replacement, same day.

I have emailed them and nothing, now't zilch, do they want to stay in business or what.

I usually phone in advance, (saves a lot of unecessary rage.) if they have it in stock then order with them, if not try somewhere else, this works for me and rarely do i need chase up any order. i have used many uk internet dealers (some from this site) and have found them all relliable.

Have to agree with John, phone the supplier if you need it quick.

Having been disappointed a few times with on-line retailers - best (worst) ever was a delivery date in 3 months after the order was placed. Most of the time now phone to check if they actually have the stock before I order. There are quite a few on-line suppliers, if I'm after something in a hurry, normally I can find someone with stock within 2 or 3 calls.

Here's the email I had from Angling Direct.
OK, I'm sorry but if I had drop a Jammy Dodger on my keyboard and it rolled around on a few keys it would have made a better fist of the English language than this email. Also please note the part where it says an email would have been sent if the item was out of stock....WRONG! This is the only email I've had off them! I haven't even had one confirming my order!

I just wish companies would list an item 'Out of stock' if they have none.

Here's another I received form a different supplier for a different item.
It begs the question, why advertise it as 'In stock'?

I think you answered your own question. Unless you know they have the stock, or are prepared to wait for your goods, don`t use them again. Your posting the problem on here, makes others aware, and maybe sooner or later these companies will realise, the potential business they are losing. I mostly use my local tackle shop now, apart from the friendly service, they normally have my goods within a week ( sometimes the next day ).
A bit more expensive, but worth it in the end for me. Peter.
