I can say that this year has been my best year so far for fishing. Mainly, because for years I thought that there wasn't anyway to fish without a car and only went out a handful of times a season. BUT this year I seeked out a few places on bus/train routes and been out a handful a month. I think joining this forum has helped as well
The things that have made this year the best are :
1) I have seen a dramatic change in my casting (for the good!). I actually think this is due to teaching a friend how to cast and going back to basics helped a lot;
2) Caught my first Blue Trout... nice 3lber;
3) Caught my first fish on a dry fly. I'm gonna blame my dad for this one... he never dry flied fished so I never did but this year made it one of my goals;
4) Caught my first fish on a fly I tied myself. Which surprised me cause I am the worst fly tyer in the world.
5) Caught my first river Brownie. It was in the River Almond. This was only thanks to the expert tution of my best made who knows the river like the back of his hand.
So anyone else had a year that stands out fishing wise?
Cheers,
Scott
