Default What's been your most successful fly this season.

To kick things off I will start with the one I have found to be the most consistent taker of trout and grayling, on the dry.
It is a pink posted ( for Phil's benefit ) parachute fly with a light yellow dubbed body and a small red thorax, tied with a badger hackle.
Not only has it pulled fish up from nowhere, but I have cast it to both trout and grayling on the rise, and nine times out of ten it has worked.
I also find it a fantastic fly to see, as my eyes get worse.
Fished in a scum lane or fast water on the Eden and the Clyde, it has been invaluable to me.
Fly in my eye, Paul ties a mean one and has been very generous to me with them, as I tell him I can't tie them as well as he can.
Mind you I tell a few people that, and it usually works.
I can actually tie these quite well now, and they are simple, must be if I can do them.
I have caught plenty of fish on other patterns, one being Phil's BWO, but this is without doubt my confidence fly.
What's yours?

A hopper, responsible for my best day on a stillwater and also my first river chub.

A sedgehog for me, basically a deer hair sedge variant. Had brought up fish from every single place i've fished without fail. Big ones, small ones and all in between. I would also say that other deer hair flies such as the deer hair emerger have been great too. Klinks have been good too.

Sedgehog is the winner though, with either an olive or claret body.

Fulling Mill #12 'Real Daddy'...

Hell of a lot of fish on it this year.... Responsible for my first ever Major Match win @ Stocks.

NEVER off my point position when fishing dries!

Complete confidence in it.

Followed closely by Black & Red Cruncher.

Carl

In a radical departure from what for years has been my top producer--the PTN, this year it was the Prince Nymph. For whatever reason, the fish in the early season would not leave the PN alone. I kept thinking it would be limited to a short run but it worked well whenever I was nymphing from March to May.

Shocking, I know, where do I get these radical flies, etc. Next year I'm going to get really far out and try a GRHE.
