Default Fly type abbreviations

Off to Manningford this Sunday for the Salisbury Hospice charity day and cant wait, all welcome by the way.
Went onto the fishery site this morning to see what is catching recently and saw the following abbreviations, GRHE and PTN, can someone let me know what these are.
Also, is there a list on the site somewhere that all these abbreviations are listed, if not would it be a good idea to set one up? Just a thought.
Many thanks for any help,
Top Conker

Always thought it would make a good article for a magazine to list all the abbreviations in Fly fishing. When your a beginer its really daunting.
Your average article in trout and salmon used to read like a reort on the Union movement or Irish politics. Is a USD part of the UDA, is CDC abranch of TUC etc. Still after ten years I have to think sometimes, two days ago Iwas told a fly was a LDO......took a while!
Maybe the forum could have a list of common abreviations.

i think it is quite daunting when you first begin fly fishing. there are thousands of patterns.
my advice is to keep it simple and study the entomology first so that you can understand what the trout are feeding on through the season.
then try to choose your patterns to fish immitatively when your on the water.
i cant see the point of having a box full of flies that you dont know what they are or how best to fish them !
