Default Wavey Lines 2

Thanks to everyone for their help on my problem with the curly line on the water. The purchase of a reel of Cortland, a good stretch and a tweak to my casting and I have things straightened out nicely ( a bit of extra distance thrown in too).

Another problem though. After about half an hours fishing, I get a twist forming in my spare line off the reel. This continues to develop through the session and thus hampers casting and concentration. I see other fishermen on the banks with heaps of line at their feet or straight loops hanging between reel and left hand, whilst I have a series of twists.

I know its difficult without seeing my casting style, and suspect I am turning my wrist, but has anyone else experienced and cured this?

Cheers

PS....need quick answers, off to Lakedown at 12!!! :O)

I've been through this since I started ff earlier this year. It happens after I've been figure-of-eight retrieving. What I found is that if I twist the line between my thumb and forefinger (move the thumb up the forefinger, twisting the line anti-clockwise as you look up the rod) just a little on each fig-o-8 I can counteract the twist I'm putting in. I still have to 'sort' the line every now and then, but nowhere near so often.

YMMV, of course.

HTH.
