Default Now this seems like a very interesting book

which I'd never heard of until recently. I've just ordered a copy from Amazon.

Anyone read 'Deep Trout' by William Washabaugh? It's an anthropological look at angling. Check it out here.

Yes, I can recommend it, puts fishing in its social and historical context, without ever getting too heavy.

By way of analogy for any cricket lovers reading this thread, Mike Marqusee's book Anyone but England did the same thing for our summer game and I found it fascinating.

I'd be interested to know what you think when you read Washabaugh's book.

Fascinating stuff. Not sure I understand everything but I 'get' what the author is trying to do.
