Default 8# 5wt

hi all i was out with my little rod earlier and i was struggling to shoot line with it so is it because its a cheaper line under a 10er. or is it a slightly dif technique to casting my 10# 7wt.? cheers bobby

Hi bobz,
It could be to do with the line, always buy the best you can afford, is it wf or dt? Dt dont shoot as much as a wf.
Also a smaller rod wont cast as far as you 10ft 7wt.
You may also be trying to force it with it being a small rod, there is no need let the rod do the work.

Ok, try to just shoot the thin running line, if to much is running line is being false cast it tends to lose speed and its more difficult to shoot.

give the line a decent clean, you should be able to shoot a 5# a fair distance.
are you hauling?
do you feel your casting stroke changes when you use the 8' rod?
