Does anyone have or know where to find a list of the British record rod-caught rainbow & brown trout through the years?
I'd be interested to see how the record sizes have increased over time.

I'm pretty sure the UK record rainbow was 9lb 12oz around 1970 - caught from Nether Wallop Mill.
I think Richard Walker caught an 18lb 4oz Avington monster around 1980 and of course Peter Cockwill landed a 20lb 7oz rainbow in 1986.

I think the record rainbow is now 30lb 12oz caught by T Flower from Tavistock trout fishery.
The record brown stands at 31lb 12oz - B Rutland caught from Loch Awe.

If anyone could fill-in some gaps, that'd be great.

100 years(ish?) ago the record brownie was around 18lb caught from inner city London's New River (Haringey area), which was the best trout river in england at that time believe it or not - heaving with crayfish, which the trout grew fat on. I know that cos CRW's Accidental Angler episode on it was repeated on TV on Dave yesterday morning .....but sadly its pretty much an open drain these days
