Default A Sad day...

As Octobers T&S pushed through the letterbox this morning, the postman would have felt the usual tug the other side of the door. It probably gives him a giggle each month, or maybe he just thinks 'sad b@stard'. Whatever he thinks as I, hidden from view in me boxers and t-shirt snatch the new edition from his grasp, he won't have to put up with it any longer...

I've read many and varied opinions on the forum pages about our game fishing periodicals, some good, some bad, but all about personal taste. What isn't subjective though is the atrocious print quality and production values now firmly in place at T&S. The job is now complete - new owners, new accountants, new look, new @rse-wipe.

For over 20 years I've drooled and salivated onto the richly coloured and beautifully designed glossy pages (the gloss used to help the saliva run off nicely and made cleaning up quick and easy) as I've been educated and entertained by the likes of Goddard, Headley, Catlow, Beer, Weaver et al and the best of the best photgraphic images.
T&S was always the classy one for me. Great writers, and a visual feast. Sure, the content wasn't always up my street.. show me a mag that was, but I usually read it all anyway, such was the quality and impact of the layout, the images and the overall feel. It made me want to read it. I made me want to eat it.

And now it looks like one of those third-world brochures for local tourist attractions. Printed on recycled banana paper or something equally unsuitable. Christ! I think it's now actually worse than FF & FT

Ah well, I'll get over it I suppose. I'll email Flitcroft and voice my dissatisfaction, cancel my subsription...... and then probably just buy it each month from the newsagent.

They are possibly making cut backs due to less revenue from reduced sales caused by the popularity of Internet forums.

So it's basically your own fault mate

I thought the same mate. I mean for Chrissakes - "Reviewed, 6 river nets"!

And an article on French nymphing as if it's some ground breaking new technique. Pathetic.

Rob, I nearly got my handkerchief out when I read the first couple of lines of your post! I was racing ahead in my thoughts when you mentioned the post man feeling a tug on the mag. and visualised your dog 'worrying' the paperwork.
The sad bit had me thinking your little dog had died, and I was composing a post of my condolence to you in your bereavement. Then you tell me that TanS is an inferior sort of fishing 'rag'. Shame on you!! Now I don't know what to say.
Except --- I'm glad your little dog hasn't died -- that's if you have a little dog.

Default Fishing Mags

Must admitt, after at least 35 years of reading the so called mag of the future.....
I know of at least 2 mag editors read this forum, well your mag stinks!
I only buy it because, it's better than, toothake. I just counted the pages I woud like to keep and it's not a lot.

It's on a slippery slope Terry... I could do better with an ink-jet printer and some bog roll.

C'mon Terry, what's the Bobby? What do you really think? I sense some kind of misplaced loyalty there... no shame in that though mate.. I feel it too Like I said, I'll no doubt be powerless to resist each month when I see those shimmering, glistening scaley little b@stards on the front cover! Only trouble is.... I'll still have to put up with Procter.
