Default Fishing Lures

Apart from the odd lure found in the bottom of the boat or at the side of the water I haven't fished lures for many years. Over this coming winter I intend to tie some up. Is it still a case of, when fishing lures, starting with one colour then changing to another till you contact a fish.
If this is so, would about 5 colours be enougth?

Dunno much about lures . . . .

. . . but as nobody else has answered yet I'll suggest that action might be worth considering too, for example, leaded or buoyant at the head to give it a bit of a sink-draw or float-draw action. You might also want to mix a couple of colours together as the contrast gets the predatory instincts going in most fish because of its visibility amongst other triggers.

And I suppose orange, white, black and green are good colours to start with, from what I have read . . .
