Default barbless hooks

there is a reason why u should use barbless hooks not only if the fishery rules say so also because if your fishing on a boat with your father and he decides to catch you in the cheek with it there very easy to remove as i found out

The beauty of barbless, easy to remove from cheek, both facial and backside.
A mate got hooked in the nose when chattinig to someone when stood behind him.

On Saturday got a huge lure stuck up a tree on a backcast pulled the line to free it and it catapulted at 200 mph into the top of my middle finger . Could not get the fooker out at all had to go to hosp and get 2 jags they pushed it through and snipped the barb off then pulled it back through .... Barbless for me from now on im afraid . Imagine getting that in the eye thats why its important to wear glasses even in the pishing rain .

I hooked a mate in the forehead when we were school kids with a minnow tackle with three size 16 trebles. He got a fright & panicked & pulled it out & he was left with 3 holes in his forehead & covered in blood. He never sneaked up behind me again

Years ago I was visiting friends in Cornwall and went fishing on a small stillwater in gale force winds.

Ended up at Truro hospital to remove a black lure from my right ear lobe!

God, it hurt - and I felt rather stupid!

Kind regards

I`ve been using barbless all this season on the river, made releasing smaller trout a lot easier and I reckon I`ve caught just as many as last season too. If I can`t get barbless in the size I want for tying, I just flatten the barbs down.
