Default Rainbows too easy to catch?

Rainbows are easy to catch??????

I cant ever get my head around this statement when ever its made. How on earth are they easier to catch when many struggle to catch them? They dont just jump on a hook and to catch them you have to work and think to get them.I see them as no easier to catch than any other fish.If it was too easy I would have given up along time ago.
Is there one person here who has never Blanked fishing for rainbows because they are too easy to catch.

Aye, it's a funny one that.

I was chatting with some fellow anglers at the weekend and we were talking about another post on here about 3 anglers catching 90+ fish in one session.

I pointed out that I've never experienced such a day/event when fishing for rainbows.

I have, however, on several occasions while loch fishing for wild brownies.

In my experience therefore, I fully agree with you Kevin.

Cheers

Don

They can seem as if they are easy at times . I think that is due to the fact a stocked fishery has more fish than a wild fishery per acre ( most of the time ).
Also I find when they have just been stocked they are a bit daft and not yet gone "natural"
There are days however when you would think they were no fish in the water you were fishing .

When taken from the trout farm, a freshly stocked rainbow takes a couple of days to get used to its new surroundings. Its usual daily routine of swimming round tanks and being fed at certain times has gone out of the window. So after those 2/3 days of stocking it has got hungry and will take almost any small floating fly thinking it is a pellet. So yes at this stage they are easy to catch.
Oh, and by the way...3 years ago i spent my 40th birthday having a bit of casting tuition and a days fishing at your place. Still got the carp in?

Only caught 1 in 6 hours of fishing, so not easy for me, but then that;s because it was my 1st fly fishing session, I'd happily take 1 for a days fish.

Rainbow trout easy to catch?

I have been present in the company of some of the world's finest fly fishers next to a lake that was covered with rises from myriads of rainbow trout.

For two whole days, no-one caught a thing.

At the other end of the stick, rainbow trout can be very easy indeed to catch.

And what I've said about rainbows can equally apply to browns.

Strange that ,i watched a trout dvd that i downloaded from the internet from mini nova ,check it out its really good.
They rainbows that were stocked were feeding on natural insects within 10 mins.

Smile

I have never caught a Rainbow Trout on a fly but will be trying in the next week or so.

It will be somewhat disappointing if they are in rows, standing on their tails waiting in turn to take my fly.
