Default Which Line to Get

Can someone advise whats the best line to get for this set up
its for small rivers
the Rod is a Greys GRXi 7' #2/3
and the reel is a Greys G Series no 1
I`m going to get one of the pirate lines but not sure if to get a DT or WF
any advise will be welcome cheers
Alan

I assume you will be casting short distances, therefore i would reccomend a line size above the rated size for the rod i.e 2# fly rod use a 3# fly line.

i would reccomend a WF as oppose to a DT but thats personel prefference.

WF line will enable the rod to load easier.

Kind Regards

Will a Wf line help place the line in difficult casting places ie under hanging trees ?

WF will aid in all casting situations as the rod loads better than a DT Fly line.

Get a silk line from Terenzio, or if you can afford it, Phoenix.

If very small streams a #4 line might do you better .My recently retired britewater 8foot was rated 2-4 and I use a #5 silk line on that and its replacment !
As most of the time on small streams you dont use the running line loading the rod is much the same with either dt or wf ,if the line is also used for longer casting on bigger rivers with a rod rated slightly higher then a WF comes into its own

wf 3 buddy, you are casting next to nothing with a small rod like that, getting under trees means getting down low and side casting or roll casting if its tight.

get on the water of leith for a practice before the seasons finished (6th october )

Really? How does that work? The front 30ft of a DT3 weighs the same as the front 30ft of a WF3 or has something changed in the AFTM system that I'm not aware of?
