I was there a couple of weeks ago. Had a few, 10 i think. Upto 2lb. Weather was horredous, really windy.

I have fished it a handful of times over the last two or three years, never blanked.

Its cheap as chips (£13/day, take 4), but can get busy with dog walkers. Go when the weather is bad and it will be quiet in the dog walkers and joggers department.

Buzzers worked well for me. Damsels usually when the fish are deep.

Last time they were on the top taking shipmans and CDC emergers.

Thrybergh Reservoir near Rotherham is one of the very first stocked trout waters. It is stocked and managed by Rotherham MBC and offers annual season tickets for 40 visits for about £140.00. There are discounts for pensioners.

The fishing can be superb, but watch the people walking past. The best tactic seem to be buzzers and emergers with fry imitations later in the season. I have caught numbers of overwintered rainbows and browns up to 7 1/2lbs during the 6 years I have fished it.

You can also use float tubes here.

I haven't fished Thrybergh for some time, but it has recently opened for the new season so the fishing should be good.

i am at the minute sitting in a hotel in rotherham and actually walked round the res this afternoon. i chatted to 2 regulars and they were float tubing, one had caught nowt and the other had had around 10. using the same tactics so i think it is fishing well unless you are an unlucky sod!!!! cheers jon.

As you look at the res from the car park, to your right is the bay, here black pennel does good on the point with an gold or silver ribbed olive green buzzer or a black buzzer with orange cheeks & tin head on the droppers or diawl bach

Straight across on the corner is donny point, you can use the same set up, but very small buzzers are good fished about 2 ft down under a cdc buzzer if they're topping, gold ribbed hares ear & diawl bach if they're not.

on the left is the dam wall, here its deep. Cats wiskers are ok black & green fritz are always reliable, to the left hand side of the dam wall its back to buzzers again.
I like to use small black buzzers under a sedge if the swallows are skimming the top, (they're already here)

at weekends you get loads of walkers who dont like to keep their dogs on leads, & thats one of the reason I don't fish there anymore

Paul
