Thumbs up Fly fishing & fly tying (Rivers)

I just got fly fishing and fly tying II DVD from celtic fly, which also comes along with a useful book http://www.celticflycraft.co.uk/acat..._DVD_Book.html

This is amazing - buy it now !!!. It is the single most useful DVD I have seen for river fly fishing and I have all Olly Edwards plus one J Tyzack.

All this talk of french nymphing on the forums etc and it made no sense to me but it all became clear very quickly watching it done by an expert.

There are underwater fish shots ( quite a lot) LOTS of fishing footage - it runs over an hour and it mostly film of actual fishing rather than how to tie your rig up, discussion etc. The discussion and instruction is dubbed over the top of the footage so you get both at the same time (In English although it is clearly being read from a translation - you can follow it easily enough but does border on IKEA furniture instruction manual English at times). The fly tying sections are quick and inspiring, makes you want to get the vice out straight away.

It Covers a lot of ground

French Nymph
Short Nymphing
Long nymphing
streamer fishing
Dry fly

The book gives technical specs for leader construction and 222 patterns for flies .

There are also instructional sections (Step by steps) in the book.

£ 25 for both the book and DVD !!!

Joel

Its an excellent book. I have tied a version of one of the nymphs and i reckon it was easily better than both the Hares Ear and PTN for me this season. The Hends Body Quills is an interesting material and i have a lot of time for those Czech boys ( and girls heh heh ) .

I ordered one of those french leaders too, I was a bit disappointed with it £10 for essentially a longer tapered nylon leader - I can't fault them for the book/DVD combo though, the DVD alone would be worth what they are charging.
