Thanks guys.

As for the rod I'm going to take it to foxon's as sugessted. It hasn't actually snapped and broken in two, it just shattered along the weave, as a result the damaged area is visually around 5 inches long, with possibly more fracatures that I can't see.

It was indeed a hardy Fibatube not "Fibretube as I had written earlier, I had had it that long the wording had become illegible.

Sorry Terry, I didn't word it very well, my old rod I used to qualify with was a 10' glass one, when I qualified my farther bought me the carbon one.

Mrtrout, yes it is the one in the picture with the sewin. As you can see it had a bit of tape on the handle where the cork had split earlier in the season. It was going in to Foxons at the end of the season for some R+R.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it. I woke up this morning thinking it was a bad dream, alas not though.

Ok guys, bit of an update.

Took the section to Foxon's and surprisingly they said it possibly could be repaired. The splits in the carbon went about 7" up from the cork, and they disappeared into the section inside the handle. They are going to split the weave and glue them back together! Excellent!!.

Also, I been able to source an exact replacement from another forum, so if the repair doesn't hold I'll have the spare to fall back on!

Great news.

I think you could have phrased that slightly better Stuart.
