Default What is fishing worth to the economy?

I'm trying to find stats on what fly-fishing and coarse fishing are worth.. Any ideas where I should look?

Fishing is the largest people participation pass-time in the world! I would imagine the "Economy" especially in the UK, would be thriving; or at least keeping it's head above water, Even when we're experiencing a recession!

I think the annual fiscal accounts would suffer quite a bit, especially in this country - without the ;Angling Society input to the economy!

Recently published figures put the value of angling to the Welsh economy at £150m per annum of which £68m stays in Wales. These figures are being used to support objections to free and unfettered access for canoeists.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
