Certainly in Scotland you have to apply for a license and then it is added to your firearms certificate. I seem to remember you have to attend a course on seal recognition, telling the difference between a common and a grey seal, safe shots etc.

Seals enterinf fresh water have a different status than seals in the sea, "rogue seals" springs to mind.

Try a google search.
lol .22 isnt powerful enough, lolololol

.22 magnum would mess a seals head easy,
.22 wt tipped rounds would just make a mess of anything

Disagree. shooting a seal with a .22 would be cruelty in the extreme. the .22 doesn't have enough stopping power to realistically clean kill a seal. For clean culling you'd need something a lot bigger.

Ps i don't advocate the culling of seals in their environment for the improvement of fishing.

Default shooting seals

Apparently getting a license to shoot the seals in Wales is a NO,NO, or has any body got experience of this? Has anybody out there dealt with such a problem?

The local netsmen may be able to help,I am sure they are as pro seal as the New Dovey club is!It is in their intrest to maintain the spawning stock!

Is it a new thing seals coming far upstream, interestd in river fishing since mid 70s and too me it seems it started happening over the last decade or so,or has it passed me by?
