Default A lake for a beginner

Hi,

taking a friend out fishing on saturday.
He's never fluffed before so i'd like an easy lake to fish.

looking for a lake which as:

A) space to cast
B) LOTS of fish
C) within perhaps 90mins max of st albans

I've looked at the priory pool (or whatever that beginners pool at chigboro is!) at chigboro fisheries, is this any good?

if not, any ideas?

Farmoor 1 is an option Dave, it is only 63 miles from you. Farmoor Ranger`s last report says it is a little quiet at the moment but fish to 7lbs are being caught on buzzers and small lures close in so no long casts required. It is a c@r water, has lots of space to wander and the fish fight very very hard.
Hope this helps, all the best,
Andy

Try This place.

http://www.clavering-lakes.co.uk/

Right out in the sticks.

Peter may not have a picture up on the website of the trout lake, but it is very very peaceful and natrual.

The trout lake is a good mile or so from the other lakes and there is the Cricketers pub close by.

Trevor Oliver (Jamie's Oliver's dad owns and runs it) the food and drink is superb.

I have fished there on and off over the last 14 years and I have not yet known anyone not to go back there.

By the way the eating and other facilities by the course lakes are superb.

The locals go there to eat such is the good value for money.

My advice is?
Dont go to a fishery that is stocked to the brim or is a hole in the ground?
Why you say because you wont learn a thing about flyfishing
I started at a C/R water, which is pretty tough cookie at the best of times and ive learnt more from fishing that water than i have ever fishing put and take waters.
You dont need to think about flies, tactics and water craft in PT waters, 9 x out of 10 times you can catch on any lure remember you dont learn from doing right ,but doing wrong Grasshopper
