Default name the species

Caught these on a recent holiday in lanzarote ,anybody able to name them all ,i know one is a mullet and one is a sea bass, the one that looks like a wrasse must be one of the best looking fish i have seen, the photo of my foot is what happens when you drop a mullet about two pounds and you try to save it hitting the ground and knock it back in the water ,not a good idea

1st one maybe a Sea Bream.

3rd some kind of Parrot fish.

7th Canary Rockfish maybe.

8th Haribo Jellyfish.

9th is definetly a foot.

Guess work.

I remember locals catching loads of small fish when i was in Tenerife. I also witnessed one of them hook into some species of Tuna which was rare being in so close to the shore, he never had it on long

Cracking selection of fish. Never been able to try a bit of fishing in some warmer waters, definitely have to do it now!

Let me be a tad more helpful. My guesses:

1. Gilthead Bream (Sparus aurata)

2. Thick-lipped Mullet (Chelon labrosus)

3. Ornate Wrasse (Thalassoma pavo)

4. Pompano/Derbio (Trachinotus ovatus)

5. Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

6. Bogue (Boops boops)

7. Mediterranean/Dusky Grouper (Epinephelus guaza)

8. Mediterranean Damselfish/Chromis (Chromis chromis)

These are almost exactly the same fishes I get fishing from the pier or beach at Ortona on the Adriatic coast!

Like you, I use a 5 wt. I mainly use a small Turd fly, except for the bass where I go for them late in the evening on an 8 wt and typically a chartreuse clouser minnow. Bogue are especially easy to catch, my 8 year old niece is an expert at hooking them on a small spinning rod and nereis worm bait.

It just goes to show that it pays to take time for photos.

Lovely pictures, thanks for sharing.

I think the last one is about twelve inches long.
