Ellerdine, between Market Drayton and Telford.

They do have a website of their own, but its on the blink so I suggest phoning them for current prices. Lovely venue though as small waters go, plenty to aim at and quality, free rising fish. If you can't get them on dries/emergers, buzzers or apps bloodworms do well.

Hi Bobhope,

I was brought up and learnt to fish around newcastle, used to live in Madeley Heath. Not sure if you know it, not far from Keele.

Anyway, the best suggestion,IMO, has already been mentioned. Danebridge!! I love the place!!! Where i caught my first trout so i guess i'm biased!!

Seriously though, it is in such an amazing location. Fished all over the UK and yet to find a more stunning location.

It's a 2 acre lake filled with stockies. It is what it is but great fun!!

I always do really well with small (12-14) black nymphs on a floater. Always outfishes the lures in my experiance. If you like 3 flies then a Black PTN on the point, Diawl bach on the middle and a suspender buzzer on the top is a deadly set up. Cast it out (distance is not vital) and make sure it all turns over nicely. Watch the suspender for any fish taking off the surface and figure of eight really slowly. Just my opinion.

I'm a season ticket holder for Rutland, Grafham and the rest and i still love my trips to Danebridge more than anything!!!

Good luck and let us all know how you get on.

P.S. I always found Hanchurch a waste of money. The lakes used to be less than an acre each!!!!

If you go just down the M6 to junction 14 there is a superb fishery at Seighford (Seighford Lakes) owned and run by Phil Dixon, one the best anglers around at the moment. The fish fight unbelievably hard and i can pretty much guarantee you will have great day. The best small stillwater i have fished in that area recently. Half day catch and release is £10 i think.
Ellerdine is also good, but a bit further away. Loynton is close, but a bit pricy. Some big bars of silver in there though. Mind you ellerdine has some huge fish too. If you fancy some big water fishing Foremark by Derby is a nice resevoir. Although i haven't fished it for over a year and they (severn trent) did bring in stupid rules about th e bank fishing. Not sure how this has affected the fishery.
Seighford would definately be my choice.
