We then headed out across to far bank around Stony Isl and fished around that area. Seen a few rises but they only surfaced once. I was reading on fisheries board website (i think) that its good time to be out. We tried a few different sedges but no joy
What would you advise around tis time of year

I was up between stoney and inchacup . You sure thats where you were ?? There are a lot of fish up that end at the moment and a lot are fry bashing .
You are right with the sedge but as you say the fish are showing only once , also the flies need to be very small sedges 16 and 18 .
I have not bothered with the dries the last 2 days as was not working for me or many others and thought would change tactics and went for fry flies . Had the one today and two yesterday 1.5 and 2.5 lbs on a alexandra and lost 2 other fish also . All this with flat calm and bright sun .
So yes sedge patterns and fry also . If there is a nice wave then all the usual suspects will take fish ( dabblers , bumbles and stimulators ) that sort of thing .
