At the suggestion of another member, I have just spent a fair bit time browsing through the photo competition gallery. There are some superb pictures in there which display what a great amount of talent we have on these boards. What seems to be missing though is a bit of support from other members of these boards - and I am guilty as the next - in terms of placing our votes. I think all of 12 members have bothered to vote on August's comp... which is dismal.

We are all pretty quick to knock Admin when they do things we don't like, but surely a monthly competition - with prizes - which recognises and encourages members talents, should be supported more wholeheartedly? Grommit has dug deep to support with prizes and Admin have made some big efforts to set things up nicely.

Maybe the Comp board needs a bit more publicity and drawing to peoples attention Also perhaps a linked explanation to how it works?

It's not immediately obvious where you go to vote - might be one of the reasons.

There are now so many sections on here that I, I am sure like many others, simply use the userCP option to view a very small section regularly. My CP includes about half a dozen boards and I only view others if, like yourself, I am directed.

One of the very negative effects that the changes to this forum have brought about to my usage of it. As for any credit to the Admin, I made my feelings known at the times of the various changes so I am hardly going to apologise for my reaction to them.

exactly , nor if you want to enter a pic .........people om forums like simplicity ,if they have to go from a-b c-d to get to e they give up .....

My view is that the Photo comp is a great idea and worthwhile supporting. But I would endorse 100% the comments by others on this thread that:

a) It is not very obvious how to vote or where to, and
b) That the forum in general has lost some of simplicity and less intuitive in terms of navigation.

The reason for posting this thread was to promote the efforts of those members who have posted their pictures in the comp and to try and drum up a bit of wider interest and support for their efforts. I hope that admin will respond and take note.

I fully take on board, and agree with the comments about the wider issues with the forum, but hope that this thread will just engender some interest and constructive comment about the photo comps.

Fully support TM in his highlighting this Quandry.I put a bug photo in the Entomology section of the photo section.This did not show up in the New Posts. so folk don't even get to see it apart from the tiny thumbnail at the top of the page.
But you guy's n gals need to support the photo comp or we will loose it.
