Default Draycote tips?

Anyone got any tips for fishing Draycote water this Sunday. Been a couple of time but it like to have a real good bash and try out some tactics if you have any.

Cheers

Chris

true there was a sort of brag-wars on draycote..blobs across the middle...could walk accross the middle on the backs of the fish..then...nothing code-names for we-only-knows-flies-out-of townies

---------- Post added at 06:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:14 PM ----------

probably the fallout of the "foremark homeless"

Well seeing as your still waiting for up to date info I may as well chip in - I didn't cos I haven't fished it yet this season, but I've fished it a fair bit over previous years, with a mate who's a regular. As has been said, Keith the manager will put you right on day anyway, a true gent. We always have a boat and to be honest we've stopped bothering with dries and nymphs and now pretty much always fish the same method, because it sorts out the better overwintered fish from the stockies. Basically, fishing the drift with Di7 lines, sometimes Di4s if the fish are a bit higher, big lures (olive zonkers, tubes, big chartreuse and white fritz patterns called "owens") cast out to side, full line, allowed to sink and swing round behind boat before retrieving. Very effective. Sometimes have to hunt around for the fish because they follow the daphnia clouds. Drifts across the Shoals and Farnborough spit towards Toft usually produce well though.

If from bank I would still go with lures, again maybe Farnborough spit area, Toft, Biggin but check with Keith where's been producing, also depends on wind direction of course. Take waders, you'll need 'em. Buzzers should also catch you fish but maybe more stockies. Boat is best bet though. Enjoy!

Draycote...

My post about last sat is on here. The water quality was shocking but the rudder boys were catching plenty.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

sounds like you had an "eventful" day chickenfish! Your comment about the rudder boys catching plenty proves my point (although you can still fish the same lure style without a rudder)
