I broke the bottom section on my 6wt and contacted Sage them selves, they said I had to post the entire rod back to them.

Later I was talking to a dealer who changed the section and took the old 1 with out the hassle.

What he did say that might be interesting is that he couldn't do it if it was a custom build as the 2 rods are different (factory/custom) and 1 section does not always fit the other like it should.

This has worried me as another of the rods is a custom build.

thanks for your input, luckily this rod is a factory build. i too have numerous custom built sage rods but luckily the guy that builds them for me in the states is only to happy to repair them for me if damaged, a private arrangement for regular customers. i do still have to front up the postage both ways, luckily this is the first rod in many years i have damaged.
thanks again jon mcmillan.

Jon, I sent a broken Sage back to Gary Coxon on the 7th July, and heard nothing for a month, so I wrote to him, and a week later he rang me on a Sunday morning.
He said the new rod would come direct to me from the states, but now September 10th and nothing.
They haven't even cashed the cheque I sent them on July 7th.
Rather a long drawn out affair to my mind.
Good job I wasn't stuck and only had one rod, but if you want service, try Orvis, three days and a new rod at the door.
Hope I never need to claim from Sage again, I could be dead before I got my rod back.

sounds like i've got off likely, i have just been told by foxons(sage uk authorised repair specialists) that i am covered for breakage but not wear and tear. it is laughable. i have 6 sage rods all under 6 years old all with matching reels. i will be looking else where for my tackle in future. fantastic rod but the service seems a bit ropey. thanks for your info, jon mcmillan.

Foxons are good Jon, and there is only one answer to your problem.

How bad is the scratch? I would say only breakages would be covered under their warranty?

am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. i have just yesterday scrached my sage txl on a wire fence fishing
Thats normal wear and tear, I wouldn't think that would be covered. It won't invalidate your warranty though. If you feel that strongly about it, Sage may repair it for a small fee, or replace the section.

How is it laughable? You can't reasonably expect every rod company to replace a rod each time the blank gets scratched?

i find its laughable that an unconditional guarantee doesnt cover a scratch BUT if i had scratched the rod and then snapped it intentionally then they would have replaced it??
it must be cheaper for sage to repair this scratch than replacing the bottom section. i am right in thinking there is a handling fee for the repair/replacement of the rod? then this would cover the repair of the rod. i really dont get it. is it me or am i missing something???? jon mcmillan.

By that rationale, if an angler scrapes his reel, rips his vest/jacket on barbed wire, the company is under obligation to replace it?

I can't see where you are coming from on this one Jon?

Breakages and smashed blanks, I would say yes, but scratches??
