Default FF in Perth/Pitlochry area?

Hi, all,

I've been lurking round here (with the occasional post) for a few months, having taken up fly fishing in April. I have only fished the reservoirs of the Isle of Man so far.

I am happy with 5-6wt tackle (I find 7-8wt heavy), both dry fly and nymphing (though I still haven't got the hang of droppers - all I catch with them is tangles...). I can roll and overhead cast, but know nothing of Spey casting.

I find myself with a free day in the Perth/Pitlochry area later this month. My hosts will be able to guide me to the better hostelries, but know as little about the local fly fishing as I do.

Where do those of you who know the area suggest would be a good day out for someone of my limited experience and technique?

Thanks!

Paul

Default Pitlochry

There is a tackle shop directly across the road from the tourist information shop, the guy there is really helpful with advice.

Cheers

Jedi

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I settled on a day at Butterstone: beautiful setting, friendly place! (thanks to Hugh for the coffees!).

I had a great time and learned a lot at the hands of Stephen Gill. His style of instruction suited me, and I can thoroughly recommend him to others in need of 'fine tuning'. (gilliefisher@hotmail.co.uk).

If only they'd allow boat fishing on the Manx reservoirs....
