Talking Does anyone know of...

John Parkman. He used to run Bayham Abbey Trout Fishery and I think moved down to the West Country. And I think joined a Fly Fishing Council of some kind.
My father and he knew each other and I learned to fly fish from the age of nine under his and his sons tuition! I got my 'Bayham Abbey Kingerfishers' badge - catching a trout over 5lbs (16 years ago - it was a good thing!!!) - which I still have (the badge).
Miss the fishery everytime I drive past it. (Pretty much every day)

I don't know what happened to John but I still have by Kingfisher tie for catching a 5 pounder from under the bridge that went onto the Island at the top end of the lake, got to be 25 years ago if not more when normal trout were about a 1 1/2 lb ( before they weighed everything in kilos) and that 5 pounder was my best fish for about 10 years.

You're right my maths is out - it would be 25+ I lost a few years there. And yes mine was was up the top in between the bridge and where it went into the stream.

That's good.
There was no reason behind it. It was, and still is, my all time favourite fishery. Stream, lake, pools, waterfalls all-in-one. As I've said before, I was taught to fish there, and I'm now teaching my son to fly-fish as well.
So maybe a drop of glassy-eyed nostalgia.
