Default Blob Fishing

Hi,I'm an ardent river fly fisher but I've been offered the chance to fish a top trout reservoir (Cantref),and after researching reservoir tactics and asking a few experienced anglers I've settled for the 'Blob'.It may be the purists nightmare but it certainly appears to be a killing technique.
So my question is how do you fish the Blob? What line should you use-what depth should you fish-and what retrieve? So basically..how do I fish the 'Blob'?

Regards Morgan

like the blob myself

black blob on point and then either orange or sunburst blob on dropper 6/8ft up from point

or gink a blob up and just let it hang

like to use sweep lines with blobs ,, brings fish up from the depths

blobs dare i say it always catch fish

I've had some success with blobs and suchlike glittery things.
Goldheaded ones can be fished on a floating line - unweighted I'd use sinking or sink-tip.

How low(deep) do you want to go?

A fast sink polyleader is a handy thing to have in the bag - used with a floating line gives you an instant sink-tip.

So generally you'd fish them deep on a sinking line?

My understanding (and I'm new at the blob thing) is that you fish them on any line you like.

Put them on a floater, grease them up and let them sit there or strip them back. Don't grease them and let them drop through the water slowly or strip them back. Put them on the point with a could of more imitative flies like buzzers, DB, crunchers and snatchers, AKA a washing line, the blob will help you to hold the other flies in the top few inches. Put it on the top dropper and hand the cast off it it you want to get a bit deeper.

Put them on a midge tip, again try a washing line or 2 blobs and pull them back or Fig 8 them. Repeat with heavier lines until you find the fish.

I'm sure there's a load of other things some of the fishing gurus. The blob seems to be a bit of a Swiss Army knife of a fly.

Cheers

Andy

I think Cantref is brownies isn't it? If so, there are probably other options that would be considered better...

The blob AND a bung!?

I am afraid i would rather catch nothing than use these two techniqes

I do think that if you are gonna use a bung you may as well be fishing a worm and a bubble float .

And the blob, i dont own any, so cant use what iu dont have in my box
