Default River Meon day ticket ???

Hi

Tommorow i am going to be taking the tribe to petersfield to play with horses, i have been offered the chance to go fishing...

It is a bit too far for me to drive to the itchen and back to make it worthwhile .. i thought it could be fun to try my hand on the Meon however i can find nothing other than a company called fishing breaks who charge 85 pounds a day... a bit rich for me... anybody put me onto a reasonably priced meon day ticket ???? I might have to end up at a still water...

About the only place I know of is meon Springs. It's up West Meon way.

They have 3 lakes fed by the Meon and a short stretch of the Meon. Not fished there myself (although I was planning to this year) but it's supposed to be pretty good.

Thanks for that..FYI, the "meon beat" is a canal shaped pond... not a river at all... its an option mind

Oh. I thought it was part of the river. Not fished there but day tickets on the Meon are rarer than hen's teeth!

I don't think fishing breaks have the meon any more. It's on Google but not on their website main page. Strange.

I used to fish the Meon 20 years ago down at Titchfield (a mate's Dad owned a stretch) and he let us trot for Dace ... 10lb+ nets of dace plus the odd sea trout and plenty of little brownies. Beautiful river.

I think that you might find that the 'Meon Beat' at Meon Springs is not open at the moment due to water level problems - That said the main two lakes are open, and we have had a fair bit of rain this week in the south, , , , ,

Meanwhile, just down the road, Moorhen (Warnford) was still closed as recently as 10 days ago, (officially for "refurbishment", but there have been many local rumours about some sort of contamination or even infection/disease problem), although it may have re-opened by now.

Then there is Chiphall at Wickham , , , , , always good fun.
