Default A380

I know this has nothing to do about fishing but anyone else looking forward to the fly-bys by the A380 this Saturday?

Hopefully get a spot at the bridge over M8 at Edinburgh to watch it fly over... it is apparently doing a test landing. Will approach, descend like its landing and then power off over the runway

Not really - I live under the flightpath into one of Heathrows runways - I expect I'll see a few in future

Would be interested to hear if you think it louder or quieter than a normal jet tho'. We never used to mind concorde coming over twice a day, nice to see a bit of top engineering and UK pride on display, even if it was so damn loud you couldn't hold a conversation in the house.

Hope you get clear skies and the deluge stops

Hasn't it already been in Heathrow a few times?

I grew up in a town next to Edinburgh airport and have fell in love with aircraft! I love the sound of jet engines and hate living in Glasgow away from the airport!

We used to get concorde twice a year and I used to skive school just to go watch it. The A380 wont be too much louder than a 747 as they use similar engines but the A380 will be slightly more powerful.

Cheers, I hope its clear too... will make the pics better

It's appearing at the Northern Ireland Airshow this weekend.

I also live near Heathrow and if the wind is in the right direction, they eventually fly over our house. I guess they must be at least 1000 feet up by then. Singapore Airlines use them so do Quantas and Emirates so we get at least 3 or 4 on a daily basis taking off. This is usually early afternoon. I still havn't seen one land yet though! They are much quieter than the 747's and 777's and I have got used to the sound difference now so I can recognise them. Also, they seem stubbier. I think that Quantas can fly directly to Perth!

Been on the Emirates one from Dubai>Heathrow. Far prefer the smaller ones and the Boeings, the 380 is just too big, even with the 20-odd hostesses it takes an hour before they work their way up the aisles clearing lunch etc. Also the hardest landing I've ever had - really felt like a huge weight collapsing onto the ground, everyone went "oof". Walking on and seeing the length and width (three rows of four seats across!) is something else though.
